Local Moving Checklist: 4 Week Plan for Easy Moving

Going from point A to point B often seems easy in the imagination. You can almost plan everything from moving time to packing and from unpacking to the stress-free moving experience. But let's face it, things actually run a bit differently. There are several variables to consider when planning a residential move. So, to make it easier for you to move locally, here is a local move checklist that you can use to proactively plan your residential move.

4 weeks Prior to Actual Move-in Date

  • The busiest thing about moving is sorting things out, throwing away unused things, organizing and rearranging essential things to pack. To make this work, use this home moving checklist in the following order
    • Start with the closet first and work your way slowly to classify the storage space.
    • Second. Keep unnecessary items separate from essential items, such as unused cloths, discarded furniture, old books, and unused utensils.
    • Third, label the items in their sequence, i.e. storage items, bedroom items or things, etc.
  • It's best to do a little self-research on local moving companies with affordable moving prices and get moving estimates from at least two or three moving companies.
  • People often say that "it is easy to move into a new house, you can find things near you and, if not, you can Google them". But in reality, it is different than just Googling it. Therefore, to make the move easy and stress-free, you need to proactively identify clinics or hospitals, utility stores, and veterinary stores near your new residence.
  • Most importantly, make it easy for your children to move. Identify a decent school and university near your new address. Next, arrange transfer documents to do a school transfer.

2-3 Weeks Before Moving In

  • Now is the time to clean the space for the moving company to work. First, host a backyard sale to get money off your unused stuff. Second, after the backyard sale, donate leftover goods and items. Make sure the things you are donating are in exceptional condition.
  • Sort essential items and things that will be requested the first night after the move.
  • However, the important thing is to request in advance the one-week license from your office. Having a two-week window to get your application approved will avoid unnecessary delays and obstacles.
  • Submit an address change and record your new resident address for all official mail. At the same time, notify your office, university, and family or friends about your new address. You can also hire a mailbox rental service to keep your mail safe and secure.
  • Deep house cleaning.
  • Through a moving party and use all the items in your pantry. This way you will have less food to carry and you won't waste food.
  • The last thing you can do is check to see if your new place requires a moving parking permit. If you do, apply for a parking permit, this process takes two weeks.

1 Week Before Moving In

  • After fixing things, it is time to book the best moving services according to your budget. Then schedule a visit to the moving service to estimate moving space and vehicle requirements.
  • Takedown heavy furniture and identify the things you and the mover should pack for a quick and easy move.
  • Prepare Few Day' “essential kits” for the first few days of moving. It should include essential toothpaste for the bathroom, for example, toothbrushes, soap, towels, etc. Pack nightwear and daywear separately. Afterward, be sure to carry this bag in your own car.
  • Organize cash and change to pay tips to people who move.

Conclusion

To make your moving day easy and stress free, use this moving template. The great thing about this checklist template is that it can be modified. Happy moving.
